How it works
When you type a message in Dotio, the right expertise goes to work. You don’t pick specialists, assign tasks, or wait for replies. You ask. You get an answer.
Behind the scenes, Dotio is a team — not a single assistant. Different parts handle different work. You don’t have to think about it. Just say what you need.
What you can ask
- Strategic questions — “What’s our runway?” “Can we afford a new hire?” “Are we on track this quarter?”
- Operational tasks — “Create an invoice for Acme Corp, $3,000.” “Log yesterday’s Uber as travel.” “Update the email for Beta Industries.”
- Analysis — “How much did we spend on software last quarter vs this one?” “Forecast cash three months out.” “Which client is our biggest right now?”
- Deliverables — “Create a Q1 investor update as a PDF.” “Build an Excel budget.” “Prepare a tax package.”
Dotio routes your request to the right place and returns a clear answer.
What’s available today vs soon
Dotio covers finance broadly. Some capabilities are fully available today. Others are rolling out through 2026.
Today:
- Strategic advice and CFO-level questions
- Invoicing, expenses, clients, vendors
- Reports and forecasts
- Generating Excel, PDF, PowerPoint, Word documents
Rolling out:
- Additional bookkeeping, tax, and audit capabilities
When something isn’t available yet, Dotio tells you clearly and points you to what is.
Getting good answers
A few tips:
- Be specific. “What’s our marketing spend this quarter?” gives a better answer than “how are we doing?”
- Ask follow-ups. Dotio remembers the conversation. “Now break that down by channel” works.
- Share context when needed. Paste a file, upload a receipt, drop in a CSV. Dotio uses what you give it.
- Teach it. If you say “remember that our fiscal year ends June 30,” Dotio stores the fact and uses it going forward.
When in doubt
Just ask. Dotio can handle vague questions — it’ll ask you to clarify if it needs more. There’s no wrong way to phrase a request.
