Recording funding
Go to Planning → Raised Capital → New. Enter:
- Name — “Seed Round,” “Series A,” “Convertible Note.”
- Amount.
- Close date.
- Type — equity, SAFE, convertible note, grant.
- Investors (optional).
- Terms (optional).
Cash impact
The full amount hits your cash balance on the close date. From that point forward, your runway calculation includes the new capital.
Tranches
If capital comes in tranches, enter each one separately. Each has its own close date and amount.
Connecting to books
Raised capital in planning is for forecasting. When the money actually arrives, record it in bookkeeping as well. Dotio creates the journal entry (increase cash, increase equity or liability depending on the instrument).
