Why this matters

Dotio works across any country and currency, but it needs to know a few things about your business before it can help properly. Get this right once and everything downstream is correct.

What you’ll set

  • Company name — the legal or trading name.
  • Country — where your company is based. This influences tax defaults and formatting.
  • Base currency — the currency your books are kept in. You can still record transactions in other currencies.
  • Fiscal year — when your accounting year starts and ends. Calendar year is the most common, but not required.
  • Industry — so Dotio can tailor answers. Pick the closest match.
  • Language — the language Dotio speaks to you in. Nine languages are supported.

Multiple companies

If you run more than one business, you can add all of them under one Dotio account. Each company has its own books, its own data, its own settings. You switch between them from the top-left of the app.

Changing things later

Everything you set here can be changed later in Settings → Company. Don’t worry about getting it perfect on day one.
