What talents are

In Dotio, a “talent” is anyone on your team — employee, contractor, founder, advisor. Planning them as talents lets you see their full cost impact on cash flow.

Adding a talent

Go to Planning → Talents → New. Enter:

  • Name or role.
  • Start date.
  • End date (optional).
  • Salary or rate.
  • Bonus (optional).
  • Employer costs — taxes, benefits, insurance, overhead.
  • Currency.

Fully-loaded cost

Dotio calculates the fully-loaded cost automatically: salary + bonus + employer costs. Reports and forecasts use the loaded cost, because that’s what actually hits your cash.

Hiring plans

For future hires, mark talents as “planned” vs “active.” Planned hires show up in forecasts so you can see the impact before you actually hire.

“Plan three engineer hires starting July — fully-loaded cost $180K each per year.”

Changes over time

Raises, bonuses, role changes — all can be added as changes to an existing talent.
